What is Umrah?

The act of worship is called Umrah, which is a series of rituals performed around the Kaaba, in the Grand Mosque in Mecca. The Hajj includes donning the ihram, circumambulating the Kaaba, performing Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, and cutting or shaving your hair. The Umrah pilgrimage consists of a sacred journey that holds a special meaning in the hearts of all Muslims. It is a Sunnah that is very dear and a special opportunity to purify one’s faith and purify the soul. The person who performs Umrah finds peace in his soul, his heart is cleansed and he gains closeness to Allah Almighty. Millions of people from all over the world go for Umrah every year to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty, purify their intentions, cleanse all their past sins, and return to normal life after spiritual development.

Before entering Ihram:

• Do Ghusl.
• Trim nails if necessary.
• Apply non-scented products.
• If possible, offer two Rak’ahs of prayer.
• Make the intention for perform Umrah 2026.

The Talbiyah:

Once you have made your niyyah, you make a special statement called the Talbiyah to confirm your niyyah and enter into the state of Ihram.

لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayka la shareeka laka labbayk, innal hamda wan-ni’mata laka wal-mulk, la shareeka lak.

Performing Tawaf (Circling the Kaaba):

This is the center of Umrah. You will graze around the Kaaba seven times against the anti-clockwise, beginning and ending at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad).

‘Raml’ and ‘Idtaba’ (worshiping around the Kaaba):

Prayer at Maqam Ibrahim:

Once you have completed Tawaf, cover both shoulders (men). Go to Maqam Ibrahim (the glass enclosure near the Kaaba). If it’s crowded, pray anywhere in Masjid al-Haram. Pray 2 rakah: Surah Al-Kafirun (110) in the first rakah and Surah Al-Ikhlas (112) in the second rakah.

Drinking Zamzam Water:

Now go to the Zamzam water area, which is usually located at the side of the mosque. Face the Kaaba while drinking. Take the time to make a sincere prayer — that is what Zamzam is used for. If you are praying during Umrah, please refer to our prayer guide.

Performing Sa’i (walking between Safa and Marwah):

In Sa’i, you will have to walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwa. This is in a cool marble-floored corridor inside the mosque.

What is Sa’i?

Sa’i reminded Hajar that she was looking for water for her son Ishmael. Starting from Safa and ending at Marwa (7 laps). Each leg (Safa to Marwa 1 lap, Marwa to Safa 2 laps) counts as one lap.

Starting at Safa, Stand towards the Kaaba from the bottom of Safa. Recite:

إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ

Indeed, al-Safa and al-Marwa are among the signs of Allah.

Then use the phrase: “Abda’u bima bada Allahu bihi” (I start with what Allah started with). Raise your hands and make dua three times on the hill. In between these duas, personal duas should be made.

Green Marker Area – Men vs. Women:

Look for green lights within the corridor, about a third of the way down. Men should walk briskly or jog lightly between them. Women usually walk the entire way – no need to run.

Shave or Trim Hair:

This is the end of perform Umrah 2026.

After Halq or Taqsir:
